São Vicente (Portuguese meaning Saint Vincent) is a town located in the west northwestern part of the Madeira Islands. It is located W of Santana, W of Machico, E of Porto Moniz and WNW of Funchal. It is linked with a road linking to Santana and the western part of the island.
The main source of industry are agriculture and fishing while a small number of businesses are in the downtown area.
São Vicente has a few schools, a few lyceums, a gymnasium, banks, a post office, a small port, beaches and squares or plazas (praças).
The 3 parishes of São Vicente include Boa Ventura, Ponta Delgada, and São Vicente.
The largest parish in population and density is São Vicente. The smallest parish in population and area is Ponta Delgada. The largest parish in area and the smallest in density is Boa Ventura.
